Approach & Experience

When I was in high school, I dove into my copy of the Fiske Guide to Colleges with highlighter in hand and organized mail from colleges in file folders color-coded by region of the country. Now, I employ that same enthusiasm to help my students explore colleges, dig into the details that make each school unique, and craft strong, personalized applications and essays.

I majored in psychology and communications at Northwestern University, then earned a master’s degree in school counseling at Vanderbilt University. I spent the next 10 years educating and counseling others in both school and community settings.

Since beginning admissions-related work in 2015, I’ve guided students individually through their essays and applications at four different organizations including College Essay Guy, evaluated freshman applicants for the University of California (UC) system, created admissions-related resources for a nonprofit that serves thousands of high schoolers, and worked as an SAT/ACT tutor.

I’ve practiced yoga since 2012 and attained 200-hour yoga teacher certification in 2019. I bring the same measured, centered, less-complicated approach to the college application process in the hope of cultivating a balanced, intentional, enjoyable experience for students.

Outside of work, I love hiking, reading, singing along to Taylor Swift, and watching college football and MLB baseball. Having lived in the Pacific Northwest, Northern California, the Midwest, and the South (and having visited numerous cities and college campuses all over the United States), I am uniquely suited to help students consider which college settings and locations might fit them best.
